Ecclesiastes 10:10: “Using a dull ax requires great strength, so sharpen the blade. That’s the value of wisdom; it helps you succeed.” (NLT)
Before any task, take the time to plan and strategize. Take the time to acquire the right skill-sets best for the task. Take the time to prepare yourself. To educate yourself, to research, to train, whatever it is you need to do. The 80/20 rule fits well in this. 80% of your time goes to preparation and with 20% left, you execute. I can assure you, if you take the time to equip yourself beforehand, you will watch the task tumble down in efficiency. The opposite is also true.
There is no need to rush to a task, ill-equipped, and work out the task with unnecessary non-beneficial effort. It will all end up being a waste of energy and the result will be mundane. A task ill-prepared for in 1 hr has the potential to take you months to finish. The same task, if well prepared for in 5 hours could have been probably accomplished in a week. Dreams that could have been fulfilled in 5 years take 10 years. Preparation or lack of it has the potential to double or slash your task-time by half or more. Jesus understood this and He shows us the model.
Luke 6:12-13: “And it came to pass in those days, that he went out into a mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God. And when it was day, he called unto him his disciples: and of them he chose twelve, whom also he named apostles.“(KJV)
Out of the twelve, we could see the result. We see that Jesus chose wisely and His purposes on earth were executed and continue unto this day and age.
Do not rush. Take your time. Wisely strategize and then execute. Moreover, if you strategize with God, expect to be marveled.
Sharpen your axe.
